Hope Ave\nOR\nRace morning 7:30a – 8:45a at the School \n2023 Scare Brain Cancer Away Recipient:\nAbby McCarthy \nMost of us know Abby as the through-hiking and ultra running queen\, with a side hustle goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon. She finds things like Vol. State 500k “fun” – AKA traversing Tennessee in  4 days\, 21 hrs and 8 minutes for a total of 313 miles. She’s also known for completing the thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail In 2008. And 10 years later tackling the thru-hike of the PCT (in 2018). \nOn the 15th of October 2022\, Abby had a seizure while she was sleeping. She thought this was a first time occurrence…..Doctors here in Rochester\, after hearing about a string of nightmares she had been having over the summer\, determined that they were not nightmares but tiny seizures in her temporal lobe. — A resulting MRI showed two masses\, one being more concerning than the other. They told her that the mass on the left was cancerous and the cause of the seizures\, but something they could confidently cut out. \nAbby had surgery on the 29th of November and spent nearly 3 weeks in Boston recovering while going to physical therapy\, occupational therapy and speech therapy. On December 18\, 2022 she was released and planned to continue the physical therapy in Rochester. She will also be treated with chemotherapy after 6 weeks of radiation which started early in March.\nAbby has stayed positive and optimistic\, going for walks and runs between treatments. She even ran a 35 hour race during her first week of Radiation – managing 113 miles! She is determined to get the most out of everyday – even through the bad days – and roast the tumor to the ground. Abby brings joy to everything she does and everyone she spends time with. Money raised will go to Abby to help pay medical bills.

SUMMARY:Zombie Run For Your Life 5K
DESCRIPTION:RUN FOR YOUR LIFE DETAILS:\nWhat is a Zombie Run? Join us for a unique spin on a Halloween favorite. Family Fun Run for your life Zombie 5K\, where zombies chase\, scare\, jump out at you along your run! Think of it as a Haunted Hayride just…. a race\, well more appropriately…. a RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. The race is part of the Month of October “Halloweenathon” going on all Month long at the Town of Hamlin. **We encourage runners to wear costumes!** SHIRT INCLUDED WITH REGISTRATION \nThe Haunted Walk. Join us to walk 1.5 miles through the park on our interpretation of a Haunted Hayride on foot. You will leave from the same location as the 5K Run\, and walk throughout the park around the Haunted portion of the course. Great for families or those who want a shorter distance but still enjoy the event. Includes Shirt with registration. **Costumes are strongly encouraged** \nWhat is a Zombie? \nIf you sign up as a “Zombie” you are NOT running in the 5K Race. You are an active participant in the “Scaring” theatrical performances as runners make their way around the course. Zombies will attend a Pre-Race meeting at 5:30pm at the Lodge after you check in at regisration\, to get detailed instructions on what is expected as a Zombie and to get your location spot along the course.  Zombies can collect leftover Race Shirts if available. **No Zombie is allowed to make contact or come close enough to touch a Runner.** \nDate: October 21st\, 2023 \nTime: Dusk (When the Zombies are most active!) 6:00pm Race Start Time \nLocation: Town Hall Park 1658 Lake Road\, Hamlin\, NY 14464 \nCost: **Price increases as you get closer to race day**\nRunners AND HAUNTED Walkers – $25 Now till August 31\, $30 from Sept 1 to Oct 20\, $35.00 on Race Day\n**18 and Under – $15 Now till August 31\, $20 from Sept 1 to Race Day**\nZombies – FREE (Shirt NOT included) \nRUN Course: The course will be approx. 5K consisting of two laps around the Town of Hamlin Park. DESCRIPTION:The Race with Grace 10K \nWhy RwG 3.0?The Race with Grace (RwG) 10K was established in 1991 as an outgrowth of the participation of several men in the Spencerport Canal Days races during the mid-1980’s.  It had a two-fold purpose\, the more important one being a community outreach.  Secondarily\, it was play on the current Pastor’s name\, George Grace\, who was a runner.\nIn our inaugural year we had 185 registrants and 171 finishers.  Our attendance peaked in 2015 when we celebrated our silver anniversary race with 1245 registrants and 1121 finishers.  Over the race’s 31-year existence\, a total of approximately 5\,000 individuals have participated.  Five men remain who have finished every single RwG and ran virtually in 2020.  They are Stan Cipira\, Bob Dyjak\, Dave O’Leary\, Ric Perry and Doug Ralph.\nThe race established itself as one of the best races in western NY.  It has consistently been named one of NY’s finest races by New England Runner magazine.  In addition\, it has been recognized as one of the cornerstone races in the Rochester Runner of the Year series.  All proceeds\, once race expenses are deducted\, go to support C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association.\nWith the current race director stepping down due to work and family obligations\, no clear choice for a successor\, the race’s future appeared to be at crossroads. Thankfully\, as the “door” on the race was quickly closing\, the Rochester Running Company and Lakeshore Community Church agreed to manage and host this year’s race. \nAbout Lakeshore Community Church:\nFounded in 1995 by Vince and Sue DiPaola\, Lakeshore Community Church exists to help people discover and develop a growing relationship with Jesus. It’s a place where you can be real\, strengthen your relationships\, and make an impact in our world. When you’re ready\, check out Lakeshore for yourself; Sundays at 9 and 11am\, in person and online at live.lakeshorechurch.org. \nQuick Race info:\nThe entry fee includes a long-sleeved tech shirt. (The 1/4 Zip up can be upgraded at check out instead of the L/S T-Shirt\, you will ONLY get the Zip Up if you upgrade) Sizes are guaranteed if you register prior to November 1\, 2023. There will be plenty of food and refreshments\, complete computerized race results available online\, and race photos. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers in the Open\, Masters (40+)\, Veterans (50+)\, and Seniors (60+) categories\, as well as the 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place finisher in each age group\n \nRACE DAY\nNEW FOR 2023 – 5K OPTION \nDate: Thursday\, November 23rd\nTime: 8:30 am EST\nLocation: Lakeshore Community Church  3651 LATTA RD. ROCHESTER NY 14612\nNO EARLY START OPTION – All Runners will start at the same time for both races.  \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nGiven that the majority of the new course is actually run on the same roads as the original course\, and it’s the third route in the event’s history\, it will be affectionately known as RwG 3.0. Now with its 3rd course however its core values\, fundraising\, and overall community involvement is just the same. SUMMARY:Wolfpack Multisport Race: Wayne Burlison Colon Cancer Awareness Run
DESCRIPTION:*This event is not directed or timed by Robinhood Racing. Please reach out to the event organizer with questions* \nDetails\nWolfpack Multisport is hosting a 3.17 mile and half marathon running event to honor Wayne A. Burlison. The race has a scheduled start time of 10:00 am. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be contributed to the Wayne A. Burlison Memorial Scholarship\, established in 2014 by Wayne’s wife and son. It is supported by Albion School employees\, various musical groups that Wayne was involved in and family and friends. \nThe race path takes the runners into the Mt. Albion Cemetery\, with rolling terrain and beautiful scenery.  The historic Mt. Albion Cemetery is a rural cemetery established in the 1840s on a glacial drumlin (landforms composed primarily of glacial till).  In 1976 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district.  As you run\, you will pass Wayne’s site\, energetic volunteers to cheer you on\, and an amply supplied water station. \nIf you are not up for a run\, we would still love to have you join us for the walk on our 3.17 mile course. \nCome join us and break up the cabin fever we all get during the long winter months and let’s have some fun! \nAll finishers will receive a medal! \nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
