Assistance can be provided to patients in the form of gift cards to local gas\, grocery\, and general merchandise stores such as Kwik Fill\, Wegmans\, and Target. Often patients need money for gas as many are driving from outside or on the outskirts of Monroe County for treatment daily or weekly. Target and Wegmans gift cards are typically used for food or everyday needs of patients. The amount provided is based upon the patient’s needs; as many patients as possible can be assisted with a donation to this unique fund. This is the power of the Patient Needs Fund; patients are able to focus more on their treatment and fighting cancer\, and not on the financial burden that so many of us have.

If you do all three races\, but do not register for the series\, we cannot guarantee you will get the gift due to administrative logistics of tracking participants\, but we will try. \nWhen you register for the series\, you won’t be able to pick shirt options for each race. Instead\, when it’s closer to the race time\, the RD will transfer you to each individual race. Then you’ll be able to manage your registration. \nOther\nYou might have surmised there is an emphasis on food! I grew up hungry until I could earn money myself to buy food\, and while my company\, Obatron Fitness\, isn’t a non-profit\, each race will include three charitable components: 1) fundraising drive via registration for each host town’s food program for those in need; 2) a food drive for the same organization on race day; and 3) a portion of proceeds after expenses are covered will be donated to the organization. \nTraining Also Available\nSee menu for training options. \nDiscount Offers & Referrals\nEntering the series rather than individual races gets you pricing equal to or less than the total of the individual race fees (depending upon when you register)\, a lower RunSignUp fee than the sum of the fees when registering separately\, and a series gift. The training offered through the series registration page is at a much reduced price including bonus workouts not normally offered with Obatron Fitness group training. If you are a member of GRTC or Obatron Fitness\, you get a discount at checkout for that. Additionally\, you may earn back some of your registration by having other racers use your personal referral link\, generated after you register. See the “Referrals” section for more information. \nAwards and Swag\nWe’re known for our informal awards due to the nature of virtual events. You are encouraged to enter your time to establish a race history with us and for the fun of it. Besides\, you never know what may happen as the series gets underway! There will be race shirts\, medals\, goodies\, and Earned Extras. Plus\, the more sponsors and participants we get\, the more goodies we can put in your packet. \nGender Designations \nWe recognize there are those who would rather not pick male or female when asked to choose. Unfortunately\, we’ve not seen a way to provide other options within that field’s parameters. As such\, we ask your understanding that we are limited by the nature of registration tools and finite resources rather than disregarding anyone’s preferences in how they are addressed or define themselves. \nAdditional Details \nWe will post additional details as they occur. Any changes will be updated here\, on the Obatron Fitness Facebook page\, in our Facebook group\, and communicated through RunSignUp messaging.

SUMMARY:Daniel's Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\n\n\nThis 5K race is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek\, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness.\n\n\nTHE RACE WILL START DESPITE WEATHER AT 9:00am \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE RACE WILL HAPPEN DESPITE WEATHER\n\nRegistration opens race day at 8:30am\, regardless of weather the race will start at 9:30am. If registrants decide not to run their proceeds will be donated to this years race recipient.  The goal is to be in person\, but if we need to move the race virtual because of COVID-19 we will let all registrants know as soon as possible. \n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS YEARS PROCEEDS\n\nThere are no refunds\, all proceeds will be donated to help support Cody and Alyssa Lansberry. Cody and Alyssa\, a 2008 Churchville-chili grad\, are expecting a baby boy in March. He has been diagnosed with a rare birth defect (called Bladder/cloacal Exstrophy) which will require surgeries and an extended stay in the hospital after he is born. We are proud to support them in their journey and help in whatever way we can as they welcome their son in a few weeks.

SUMMARY:Swain Mountain Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nOn August 7th a new challenge and tradition will be unleashed with the creation of SMR! \nSMR is a mountain/trail race that will cover approximately 5.5 miles up and down the Swain Ski Slopes with nearly 2000ft of elevation gain. This race won’t be easy but we can promise it will be epic!!!   The race course consists of 2 Loops\, the first loop is approximately 1.8miles and climbs mile sweep.  The second loop is approximately 3.5miles and ascends up Clark and Upper Robinson\, some of Swains most challenging climbs. \nAs of now the race field is limited to the first 100 entries.  We are hopeful to run the race with one mass start or 2 heats of 50 if needed.  We will continue to monitor the covid-19 pandemic and provide updates. \nMasks will be required in the starting/finishing areas and anytime social distancing is difficult to maintain on the course.  Overall the course and trails are wide enough to maintain proper social distancing.
