SUMMARY:Daniel's Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nThis 5K race is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek\, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness. \nTHE RACE WILL START DESPITE WEATHER AT 9:30am \nPre-Registration Participants \nSigning up for a FREE T-shirt ends on Wednesday\, July 14th. You can still pre-register up until August 7th\, to be able to pick you your packets ahead of time. You can pick up your registration packets along with your t-shirts at Rochester Running Company located at 1387 Mount Hope Ave\, Rochester\, NY 14620 on Friday August 13th only during business hours. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE RACE WILL HAPPEN DESPITE WEATHER\n\nRegistration opens race day at 8:30am\, regardless of weather the race will start at 9:30am. If registrants decide not to run their proceeds will be donated to this years race recipient. \n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS YEARS PROCEEDS\n\nThere are no refunds\, all proceeds will be donated to help support Oliver Lansberry\, who was born March 15th to his parents Cody and Alyssa\, a 2008 Churchville-chili graduate. Oliver has been diagnosed with a rare birth defect (called Bladder/cloacal Exstrophy) which will require surgeries and an extended stay in the hospital. We are proud to support and help this new family in the journey ahead\, in whatever way we can.

SUMMARY:RH Kicking Hunger 5K Run / Walk
DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nThe Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association\, in conjunction with the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) and the Town of Henrietta Recreation Department\, invite you to participate in the 5th annual Rush-Henrietta Kicking Hunger 5K in Henrietta\, NY. The 2022 race will provide participants with two options –a live event on Saturday\, June 4th (8 am start) or a virtual event the weekend of Friday\, June 3rd to Sunday\, June 5th.  \nThe purpose of this race will continue to focus on bringing awareness and providing tangible solutions to the issue of hunger in our community\, as well as continuing the tradition of promoting exercise and family-centered events in our town. The 2018\, 2019\, 2020\, and 2021 races raised $3\,300\, $5\,500\, $7\,000\, and $9\,500 respectively\, and also allowed for RHAFT to collect hundreds of non-perishable food items. Race proceeds have directly impacted our local community by helping to fund both the Rush-Henrietta Central School District (RHCSD) Kicking Hunger Summer Food Program and BackPack Program\, as well as providing support for community food and student-centered programs through both RHAFT and the Town of Henrietta. Since February 2020\, we have handed out more than 1\,800 bags of food to local families through the RHCSD BackPack Program. The race has also allowed for the opening of the Rush-Henrietta School Food Pantry in the Good Shepherd Building on East Henrietta Road. This community resource\, which has been opened since November 2020\, continues to support local families in need. \nPRICING: Register before May 1st\, 2022 – $15 (18 and under)\, $20 (over 18)\, pricing increases on May 1st – $25 (all participants) \nVirtual Race Option Course Suggestions \nThe beauty of a virtual 5K is that you can run or walk whenever and wherever you want over the course of our race weekend. From your local neighborhood streets\, to the Lehigh Valley Trail\, to a local track\, it is totally up to you! Below are a few possible ways to complete the 5K distance\, along with a video of helpful tips and stretches from Lattimore Physical Therapy. \n1. 5\,000m is 12.5 times around a standard track. It might be a little repetitive\, but you can’t get much flatter. \n2. Check out the link to the Mapmyrun Course around Veterans Memorial Park located below the map of how to get to the park. Two laps of this 1.55 mile course puts you right at the 5K distance (plus you never have to leave the park). PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FROM 6:30 – 10:30 am ON SATURDAY\, JUNE 4th FOR THE LIVE EVENT TO BE HELD. \nSix-week Training Plan \nhttps://www.runnersworld.com/uk/training/5km/a760067/six-week-beginner-5k-schedule/ \nVirtual Race Result Reporting \nReporting results is optional\, but if you decide to do so the links below provide lots of details on the process. Reading through all of the information in the links is certainly not needed to properly submit results\, but it is there if you want it. \nhttps://help.runsignup.com/support/solutions/articles/17000087349-submit-and-manage-virtual-results \nhttps://runsignup.com/Race/CoronavirusforParticipants/Page-7 \nIn short\, you can go to the top of this page\, then click on the results tab at the top\, and follow the steps to submit virtual results. You should also receive a text and email message with instructions on how to text or email results.\nThe window to report results will be open from Friday at 12:01 am to Monday at 11:59 am. Please email us at rhkickinghunger5k@gmail.com if you encounter any issues reporting your results this weekend. \nCLICK HERE for Tips and Stretches from Lattimore Physical Therapy
