Help us in raising awareness of the symptoms\, risk factors\, prevention and early detection for cervical\, ovarian\, endometrial/uterine\, vaginal or vulvar cancer\, because as The Foundation for Women’s Cancers states\, every five minutes\, a woman will be diagnosed with one of these cancers. If you know of a family with a child battling a life altering illness or disability please reach out to info@danielsrace.com to let us know! \nThere are no registration refunds\, all proceeds will be donated to help support a specific family in need\, the Golisano Children’s Hospital Financial Fund\, and the CCHS Daniel Myslivecek Scholarship. \nThank you for your support! \nDescription\nThis 5K race is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek\, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness. \nDESPITE WEATHER REGISTRATION OPENS AT 8:00am AND RACE STARTS AT 9:00am \nRegister \n \nPre-Registration Participants\nPre-registrations for a FREE T-shirt end after the first 100 participants or on July 15th. \nIf you register before August 16th you can pick up your bib AND Free Shirt the day before the race on the 16th. Any registrations on or after Augugst 16th will be able picked up at the pre-registation table on race day. \nPre-registration packets can be picked up at Rochester Running Company located at 1387 Mount Hope Ave\, Rochester\, NY 14620. DESCRIPTION:Jolly Roger 5K\nRun with us in person for awards\, or virtually to support the choir.\nWhen: Saturday\, August 10th \nTime: 8:30am Start Time \nWhere: Starting at Palmyra Macedon High School bus loop (Parking available in the main parking lot at the High School) then continuing right out of the bus loop with a quick left onto Foster street.  At the four way stop runners will make a right onto Stafford Rd.  They will continue on Stafford Rd until they they reach Temple Rd.  Runners will turn left onto Temple Rd and follow that to the turn around.  This course has been mapped out this year to reflect the correct distance. \nWhy: The Jolly Roger  5K is one of the key fundraisers for the Palmyra-Macedon Select Choir.  Proceeds support the domestic and international travel of the ensemble. DESCRIPTION:Swain Mountain Race \nThe Suffer Fest known as Swain Mountain Race is Back on August 3rd!!!  SMR is a mountain/trail race that will cover approximately 6.5miles up and down the Swain Ski Slopes with nearly 2500ft of elevation gain.  This race won’t be easy but we can promise it will be epic with lots and lots of steep climbs and descents\, so embrace the challenge.  The race course consists of 2 Loops\, the first loop is approximately 1.8miles and climbs mile sweep.  The second loop is approximately 4.8 miles and ascends up some of Swains most challenging climbs including Clark and Upper Robinson. \nPost race: cheer in runners with pizza and drinks!! \nUSATF Niagara Mountain Championships \nSwain Mountain Race will serve as the 2024 USATF Niagara Open and Masters Mountain Association Championships.  The race will also be part of the 2024 USATF Niagara Runner Of The Year Series and Team Grand Prix Series.  Due to the sanctioning of this USATF event and hosting the Association Championship Hiking poles are prohibited.  Any 2024 USATF member will receive a $5 discount when you use your membership number when pre-registering online. \nRegistration\nPrice increases as it gets closer to race day so sign up early! \nPacket Pickup \nFriday\, August 2nd at the Rochester Running Co Noon to 6pm.  VJ shoes\, the shoes with the best grip on planet will be at the store for packet pickup and at the race.  Come chat and demo VJ shoes! Run our Trail will be the the LAST Tuesday of every month (April – September) We will be reserving the Hopkins Point Lodge in Mendon Ponds Park for restroom access. The plan is to run the various trails around Mendon Ponds Park\, each month will be a different trail with a slightly different distance as well. \nWhen:\nRace 1 – April 30\nRace 2 – May 28\nRace 3 – June 25\nRace 4 – July 30\nRace 5 – August 27\nRace 6 – September 24 \nWhere: Mendon Ponds Park (Hopkins Point Lodge) \nTime: 6:15pm – Each Month \nCost: $100 – Series OR $25.00 per race\n(Kids/Young adults under 18 years of age are $50.00 or $11.00 per race) \nDistance:\nApril – 3ish Miles\nMay – 4ish Miles\nJune – 5ish Miles\nJuly – 5ish Miles\nAugust – 4ish Miles\nSeptember – 3ish Miles\n \nVibe: Low frills\, everyone encouraging each other to do their best.  Fast times\, slow times… lets make some memories. He moved to Rochester\, NY at the age of 7 along with his family. Upon graduating high school he enrolled in the US Marine early entry program. In September of 2010 Javier was deployed on his 2nd tour to Afghanistan and 4th total in his 9 years as a Marine. He achieved a rank of Staff Sergeant and Platoon Leader. On November 16\, 2010 Javier was killed by an IED roadside bomb while on foot patrol in an Afghanistan province. Javier represents all of the fallen soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our Freedom. Javier 26\, was survived by his wife Veronica and three children\, Alyssa\, Andrew\, and Anthony. \nCOURSE INFORMATION\nThe SSGT Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K Race and Fitness Walk is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF# NY12901KL). The race will start and finish at Trout Pond .
