SUMMARY:Daniel's Race
DESCRIPTION:The 2020 race will be on April 18th at Churchville-Chili School District behind the Middle School. The race will begin at 9:30am. You will want to use the Fairbanks Road entrance to the district\, not the Senior High School. Once you are in\, just follow that road straight between Fairbanks Road Elementary School and the Middle School and you will go back near the track. Registration takes place in the Middle School cafeteria and opens up on race day at 8:30am. You will see plenty of volunteers and signs to help get you to the correct spot! \nThe Course\nUSTAF Certified Road Race that starts on the campus of Churchville School District\, run the Road for about 2 miles along Fairbanks Road and Westside Drive and then finishes on the Track at the High School. \nOur Mission\nOur 5K is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek\, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness. Our organization has also partnered with the Golisano Children’s Hospital. In a three year period we raised $25\,000 for support of the hospital and are fortunate enough to have a piece of the hospital in Daniel’s name.

SUMMARY:12th Annual Scare Brain Cancer Away 5K Run/Walk and 1.5 Mile Walk - VIRTUAL
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 might have turned our world upside-down\, but it can’t scare us away from raising money for the Wilmot Cancer Institute’s Patient Needs Fund. So we’re doing a virtual event in 2020! You and your team will be able to dress up and run or walk a 5K or 1.5 mile route ON YOUR OWN. \nWe will be offering our long sleeve t-shirt and hope to have additional goodies that will be announced soon! \nCutoff to guarantee a shirt on race day is October 3.  All others will be mailed out a few weeks after race day. \nPacket pickup for the event will be Thursday and Friday October 22 and 23rd at Medved Running and Walking Outfitters. \nRunners can run their race anytime between October 24 and Halloween! Submit your time online here at this site and signup for notifications to make submitting your time a breeze. \nThe Patient Needs Fund is a donation-based fund for patients under cancer treatment at the Wilmot Cancer Institute. Assistance can be provided to patients in the form of gift cards to local gas\, grocery\, and general merchandise stores such as Kwik Fill\, Wegmans\, and Target. Often patients need money for gas as many are driving from outside or on the outskirts of Monroe County for treatment daily or weekly. Target and Wegmans gift cards are typically used for food or everyday needs of patients. The amount provided is based upon the patient’s needs; as many patients as possible can be assisted with a donation to this unique fund. This is the power of the Patient Needs Fund; patients are able to focus more on their treatment and fighting cancer\, and not on the financial burden that so many of us have.
