SUMMARY:Beat Brain Cancer 5k and 1 mile walk
DESCRIPTION:This is the fourth annual 5k run and 1 mile walk in memory of Desiree Stockholm who was a Nurse Practitioner at Strong Memorial Hospital.  It is a fast\, flat\, road race through neighborhoods near East Rochester High School. \nThis event is bringing awareness to Brain Cancer. Proceeds from this race will be donated to a local family fighting brain cancer. Packet pick-up will be at MedVed on June 7th\, 2019\, from 3pm to 8pm\, and on race day at East Rochester High School from 7:00am to 8:45am.  Wheelchair division will begin at 8:55am\, runners at 9:00am and walkers at 9:05am. NOTE:  If you are signing up to push a wheelchair\, please sign up in the wheelchair division.  New this year will be a kids obstacle course\, for ages 10 and under.  This is a USATF Sanctioned event. \nThis year we are raising money for young Vivian Stoch\, an 8-year-old girl from Webster\, NY who is battling medulloblastoma\, a pediatric form of brain cancer. Vivian was diagnosed on April 23rd 2018 after having double vision. Vivian has undergone surgery\, 31 radiation treatments\, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy at the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. Vivian is working with occupational therapy and physical therapy as well as tutoring at home. Due to the location of the tumor\, Vivian still struggles with her balance\, which prevents her from participating in many of the activities she enjoys most. Vivian loves cheerleading and gymnastics and wants to be a dolphin trainer when she grows up. Despite the major obstacles Vivian has overcome\, she still smiles and maintains a happy disposition. \nThe Stoch family has experienced a loss of wages and continues to receive medical bills for treatment. Please join us in supporting Vivian\, her parents Mark and Kelly\, and her little sister Laila in this long and difficult journey against this horrible disease. \nResults\n\nOverall Results\nAge Group Results\nAward Winners

DESCRIPTION:Every woman is at risk for developing a gynecologic cancer. It is estimated that there will be about 98\,280 new cases diagnosed and approximately 30\,440 deaths from gynecologic cancers in the United States during 2015 (American Cancer Society). Help us draw attention to Gynecologic Cancers –  ovarian\, cervical\, uterine\, vaginal\, and vulvar\, which pose significant threats to women’s health. Race proceeds go to Cancer Wellness Connections\, a Rochester area non-profit which provides free diversionary activities to more than 15\,000 people annually who are receiving outpatient chemotherapy treatment at Rochester area hospitals. Activities include personal training\, Reiki therapy\, yoga and meditation\, art therapy\, manicures\, crafts\, games and snacks. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for the 2019 ROCovery Fitness 5K Run/Walk and X-Challenge! \nYou may choose to walk or run in either the 5K road course or the 5K trail run. \nIntroduced last year\, the ROCovery X-Challenge offers a little something X-tra for those running on the trail course. Anyone up for the challenge and who would like to participate in the X-Challenge\, will complete push-ups\, air squats and burpees AT EACH MILE (push-ups at mile one\, air squats at mile two\, and burpees at mile three). The total amount of push-ups\, air squats and burpees will be scaled based on the total amount with the total number being determined by the total amount of money raised for the event. Our fundraising goal is $60\,000\, so this is a serious challenge. Are you up for it?! There are no additional fees for the ROCovery X-Challenge\, but you’ll get some bonus ROCovery swag for completing it. \nThis year’s race will be chip timed\, with prizes going to top male and female finishers of the road course\, the trail course\, and the ROCovery X-Challenge.\nThe ROCovery Fitness 5K celebrates the hope we find in recovery\, and remembers loved ones who have been lost to the disease of addiction. Whether you are running for yourself\, for someone you love\, or for someone you’ve lost\, we hope you will come out and run (or walk!) for recovery with ROCovery Fitness!\nSpecial pricing is available for kids under 12 years old ($10) who want to participate in the race and get their own race t-shirt. SUMMARY:Wendell Hercules Running with the Angels 10k and 5k Races
DESCRIPTION:This is the 6th year of the St. Peter’s Running with the Angels race(s). In early 2017\, we lost the race founder\, Wendell Hercules\, a staple member of the church\, the community\, and the Rochester running scene in recent years. In his honor\, the race was renamed with his namesake. \nThe 10k route is very diverse and challenging – 1 mile cross-country\, 3 miles on the Lehigh Valley Trail\, and the rest on local roads. The 5k route is a friendly\, flat road course through the quiet neighborhood around St. Peter’s. \nRunners praise the great selection of food combined with the unique early afternoon race start.\nThis includes BBQ chicken\, pizza\, homemade soups\, and much more. \nJoin us for great food\, great people\, and most importantly\, to honor Wendell. \nThe 10K starts at 1:00 pm and the 5K starts at 1:15 pm.
