DESCRIPTION:Now in its twenty-third year\, the Sunset House 5K Run and Fitness Walk  has traditionally had something for everyone: a fast\, challenging\, 3.1 mile\ncourse\, plenty of food\, refreshments and prizes—all within a fun and friendly family atmosphere.  This year the event will be held LIVE on Saturday\, May 24\, 2025 at the Irondequoit United Church of Christ located at 644 Titus Avenue\, Irondequoit\, NY.  For those of you who are unable to join us on race day\, a VIRTUAL option is planned from Thursday\, May 1st through Saturday\, May 24\, 2025. \nAll proceeds from the race go to Sunset House which provides alternative living arrangements for residents who are unable to receive hospice care services in their own homes. Focusing on quality of life rather than quantity of time\, Sunset House supports the physical\, emotional and spiritual needs of its residents\, allowing them to maintain control during an important time of transition. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n2025 RACE PACKET PICK UP IS FRIDAY\, JUNE 6TH FROM 3:00 – 8:00 PM AT THE HENRIETTA RECREATION CENTER ON CALKINS ROAD (right next to Veterans Memorial Park). \nThe Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association\, in conjunction with the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) and the Town of Henrietta Recreation Department\, invite you to participate in the 8th annual Rush-Henrietta Kicking Hunger 5K in Henrietta\, NY. The 2025 race will provide participants with two options – a live event on Saturday\, June 7th (8 am start) or a virtual event the weekend of Friday\, June 6th to Sunday\, June 8th.  \nThe purpose of this race will continue to focus on bringing awareness and providing tangible solutions to the issue of hunger in our community\, as well as continuing the tradition of promoting exercise and family-centered events in our town. Since 2018\, the race has raised over $45\,000 and also allowed for RHAFT to collect hundreds of non-perishable food items. Race proceeds have directly impacted our local community by helping to fund both the Rush-Henrietta Central School District (RHCSD) Kicking Hunger Summer Food Program and BackPack Program\, as well as providing support for community food and student-centered programs through both RHAFT and the Town of Henrietta. In 2020 and 2021\, the Kicking Hunger Committee distributed more than 1\,800 bags of food to local families through the RHCSD BackPack Program. The race has also allowed for the opening of the Rush-Henrietta School Food Pantry in the Good Shepherd Building on East Henrietta Road. This community resource\, which has been opened since November 2020\, continues to support local families in need. \n  \nPRICING: $25 (all participants) \n  \nIF REGISTERING AFTER MAY 24TH\, A LIMITED SELECTION OF T-SHIRTS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT PACKET PICK-UP AND ON RACE MORNING (as long as supplies last) \n  \nPARTICIPANTS MUST BE PRESENT AT THE RACE RAFFLE TO CLAIM PRIZES. He moved to Rochester\, NY at the age of 7 along with his family. Upon graduating high school he enrolled in the US Marine early entry program. In September of 2010 Javier was deployed on his 2nd tour to Afghanistan and 4th total in his 9 years as a Marine. He achieved a rank of Staff Sergeant and Platoon Leader. On November 16\, 2010 Javier was killed by an IED roadside bomb while on foot patrol in an Afghanistan province. Javier represents all of the fallen soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our Freedom. Javier 26\, was survived by his wife Veronica and three children\, Alyssa\, Andrew\, and Anthony. \nCOURSE INFORMATION\nThe SSGT Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K Race and Fitness Walk is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF# NY12901KL). General Gordon Granger led 2\,000 Union soldiers to Galveston\, Texas to ensure the freedom of 250\,000-still enslaved. Rochester\, NY\, home to Frederick Douglass\, is the perfect place to host a Juneteenth Run/Walk! \nThis race is hosted by Irondequoit E.R.A.S.E. (Eliminating Racism And Seeking Equity). Registration fees will go towards our annual scholarships for college-bound Black and Brown students from Irondequoit and Eastridge High Schools. \nFinish your day celebrating freedom by joining us at our 6th annual Juneteenth festival at 12 noon at the Irondequoit Town Hall yard. \nOnline registration will remain open right up until the start of the race or until sold out. Race day registration and packet pickup will take place at St. Josaphats Church from 7:15am right up until the start of the race at 8:30am. Participants who registered by Friday\, June 13\, 2025 at 5:30pm are guaranteed to receive a race shirt in their requested size. With 90% of the course off roads\, you will traverse single track\, fields\, foot bridges and bridle paths. You will experience beautiful vistas\, quad busting climbs\, and most importantly a grass roots\, community friendly event. \nIn the style of old school ultras\, this race comes with a need for self sufficient runners – We have 5 fully stocked aid stations and 2 water stops on the course spread out among the 40+ miles. Be prepared to spend up to 8 miles between some of the aid stations in some remote sections of trail. \nThe field is capped at 150 runners. Please keep this in mind. SUMMARY:Daniel's Race
DESCRIPTION:Race Proceeds\nKevyn Baker and Patricia Lora were blessed on Valentines Day 2024 with their little girl Mia. She arrived six weeks early due to complications with her intestines and had two surgeries removing 75% of her colon and attempting to fix her stomach. The family is going to NYC at the beginning of June for Mia’s 3rd and final attempt to surgically repair her stomach and colon so that she can be taken off of the TBN treatment\, her current form of nutrition via central line\, keeping her alive. A transplant is a last resort and has not been done enough to give Patty and Kevyn much hope. Patty had to quit her barista job in order to take full-time care of Mia. As you can imagine this has put a strain on their budget for their blended family of seven\, especially with the added medical costs and travel for treatment. Our help will ease the financial burden and their wish is to be able to hire a home health aide so Patty can be a full-time Mama to all of their children.  A wish for little Mia\, is of course\, to be free of TBN Tubes 18 hours a day so that she can learn to crawl and walk without risking damage to her life-giving ports. Until then we would like to purchase a riding toy that safely brings her nutritional IV’s with her and gives her the freedom every toddler enjoys. \nThere are no registration refunds\, all proceeds will be donated to help support a specific family in need\, the Golisano Children’s Hospital Financial Fund\, and the CCHS Daniel Myslivecek Scholarship. \nThank you for your support! \nDescription\nThis 5K race is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek\, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness. \nDESPITE WEATHER REGISTRATION OPENS AT 8:00am AND RACE STARTS AT 9:00am \nRegister\n\nPre-Registration Participants\nPre-registrations for a FREE T-shirt end after the first 100 participants or on July 15th. \nIf you register before August 16th you can pick up your bib AND Free Shirt the day before the race on the 16th. Any registrations on or after Augugst 16th will be able picked up at the pre-registation table on race day. \nPre-registration packets can be picked up at Rochester Running Company located at 1387 Mount Hope Ave\, Rochester\, NY 14620. ONLY on Friday August 16th and ONLY 12-6. \nPre-registrations will be open from December 1st to August 16th only for participants to be able to skip the race day registration line and go to directly getting their bibs at the race day pre-registration table. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE RACE WILL HAPPEN DESPITE WEATHER\n\nRegistration opens race day at 8:00am\, regardless of weather the race will start at 9:00am. If registrants decide not to run their proceeds will be donated to this years race recipient.

DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nAre you the GOAT? 🐐🏃🏻‍♀️🐐🏃‍♂️ \nJoin us on August 10th at 9:00 am at Duvall Farms located at 6555 State Route 5&20 Bloomfield for our 2nd Annual Goat Run!\nThis 4 mile run/ walk around the beautiful farm fields of Bloomfield will start at Duvall Farms (where approximately 1/8 mile will be on the grass heading out to the road) and complete a 4 mile loop around the country side ending back at the farm. This is a moderate course and does have rolling hills (just how goats like it!)\nBaby Goats and other petting zoo animals will be at the farm to visit before\, during and after the race. \nLive music & food trucks on site \nRaffles & Giveaways \n$40 per person \nEach finisher will receive a medal. We will have top 3 runners per age group who will receive an additional award. \nShirts are available for additional cost at check out. \nProceeds to benefit our rescue goats & sheep at our farm.
