DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nWe’re back and in-person!!  Join us\, Sunday\, July 17\, 2022\, for the first of a three–race series to celebrate the transformation of the Zoo and the opening of the new Welcome Center\, Education Resource Building and Tropics Complex in 2024.  For the first time ever\, we’ll be offering race medals to commemorate this exciting time.  Participate and collect all three! The medals will interlock to create one impressive medal.   \nHow about creating a team and raise additional funds for the Seneca Park Zoo Society?  It’s easy\, AND if you raise $100 in donations\, you’ll receive a Jungle Jog string backpack.  Raise $250 in donations and you’ll receive a long sleeve race shirt!  All funds raised will support our education and conservation efforts here at the Zoo\, in our community\, and around the world.  \nAlso\, this year we want to demonstrate our commitment to our mission of conserving wildlife and wild places by making this a ‘cupless’ race.  We are asking all participants to bring a full bottle of water with them to use during the race.  We will provide one refill station along the 3-mile route and a bottle of water at the finish line.  Participants will enjoy refreshments in the Wegmans Lodge post-race.  \nDon’t forget about the Kids Fun-Run for kids 10yrs and younger!  No cost to participate\, and each runner will receive a Fun-Run medal.  The FunRun will take place after the 5k.  \nThere will also be a ‘virtual’ option to participate as we have done the last couple years in addition to the traditional in-person option. DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\n2022 Innovative Edge Cross Country Series and Kid’s Fun Runs\nThursdays in August (4th\, 11th\, 18th\, 25th)\nSchedule\n5:00PM – 6:00PM: Same day registration available \n6:00PM: Start of kid’s fun runs \n6:30PM: Start of 5k race \nKid’s Fun Runs\nThere will be three kid’s runs for children age 13 and under: \n\n50 meter “final stretch” run for kids age 5 and under\n1/4 mile loop around the field\n1/2 mile loop around the field\n\nAll participants will receive a ribbon and popsicle at the finish. The races will not be timed. Parents are welcome to run with their children. All spectators are strongly encouraged to cheer the kids on. \n5k Cross County Race\nThe 5k will be a cross country style race around Cobb’s Hill Park. Most of the race will be on grass and trails with some short stretches on pavement (see the course map below for more detail). The course will be marked with brightly colored flags and there will be several marshals on course to help runners. \nThe 20th Edition of the Tour de Pain\nMany years ago\, the Tour de Pain was born out of the age-old question of “what would happen if I just keep racing?” Now in its 20th edition\, the Tour de Pain has been enlightening Rochester area runners for decades. If you’re looking for glory\, then this isn’t the race for you. If you’re looking for pain\, then this my friend\, is the race for you. \nThe Tour will be held as part of the final IEXC race on August 25th. Immediately following the 5k race participants will complete a 1 mile race and then a 400 meter race. Might there be some special\, painful surprises to commemorate 20 years of Pain? SUMMARY:Swain Mountain Race

We will be holding a packet pickup event at Rochester Running where you will be able to get all your race info and swag\, or you can pickup your packet and swag the morning of the race on site. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE PALMYRA-MACEDON SELECT CHOIR\n\nThe Select Choir is a group of students in grades 10-12 who are dedicated to vocal music and academics. The group is led by choir director Kayla Osika. In addition to their regular school concerts\, the Choir is committed to musical community service throughout the area\, and presents the annual Madrigal events each December. The ensemble has performed extensively throughout the east coast\, including Boston\, New York City (Carnegie Hall in both 2014 and 2017)\, Philadelphia\, and Chicago. SUMMARY:Daniel's Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nThis 5K race is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek\, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness. \nTHE RACE WILL START DESPITE WEATHER AT 9:30am \nPre-Registration Participants \nSigning up for a FREE T-shirt ends on Wednesday\, July 14th. You can still pre-register up until August 7th\, to be able to pick you your packets ahead of time. You can pick up your registration packets along with your t-shirts at Rochester Running Company located at 1387 Mount Hope Ave\, Rochester\, NY 14620 on Friday August 13th only during business hours. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE RACE WILL HAPPEN DESPITE WEATHER\n\nRegistration opens race day at 8:30am\, regardless of weather the race will start at 9:30am. If registrants decide not to run their proceeds will be donated to this years race recipient. \n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS YEARS PROCEEDS\n\nThere are no refunds\, all proceeds will be donated to help support Oliver Lansberry\, who was born March 15th to his parents Cody and Alyssa\, a 2008 Churchville-chili graduate. Oliver has been diagnosed with a rare birth defect (called Bladder/cloacal Exstrophy) which will require surgeries and an extended stay in the hospital. We are proud to support and help this new family in the journey ahead\, in whatever way we can.
