SUMMARY:RH Kicking Hunger 5K Run / Walk
DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nThe Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association\, in conjunction with the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) and the Town of Henrietta Recreation Department\, invite you to participate in the 5th annual Rush-Henrietta Kicking Hunger 5K in Henrietta\, NY. The 2022 race will provide participants with two options –a live event on Saturday\, June 4th (8 am start) or a virtual event the weekend of Friday\, June 3rd to Sunday\, June 5th.  \nThe purpose of this race will continue to focus on bringing awareness and providing tangible solutions to the issue of hunger in our community\, as well as continuing the tradition of promoting exercise and family-centered events in our town. The 2018\, 2019\, 2020\, and 2021 races raised $3\,300\, $5\,500\, $7\,000\, and $9\,500 respectively\, and also allowed for RHAFT to collect hundreds of non-perishable food items. Race proceeds have directly impacted our local community by helping to fund both the Rush-Henrietta Central School District (RHCSD) Kicking Hunger Summer Food Program and BackPack Program\, as well as providing support for community food and student-centered programs through both RHAFT and the Town of Henrietta. Since February 2020\, we have handed out more than 1\,800 bags of food to local families through the RHCSD BackPack Program. The race has also allowed for the opening of the Rush-Henrietta School Food Pantry in the Good Shepherd Building on East Henrietta Road. This community resource\, which has been opened since November 2020\, continues to support local families in need. \nPRICING: Register before May 1st\, 2022 – $15 (18 and under)\, $20 (over 18)\, pricing increases on May 1st – $25 (all participants) \nVirtual Race Option Course Suggestions \nThe beauty of a virtual 5K is that you can run or walk whenever and wherever you want over the course of our race weekend. From your local neighborhood streets\, to the Lehigh Valley Trail\, to a local track\, it is totally up to you! Below are a few possible ways to complete the 5K distance\, along with a video of helpful tips and stretches from Lattimore Physical Therapy. \n1. 5\,000m is 12.5 times around a standard track. It might be a little repetitive\, but you can’t get much flatter. \n2. Check out the link to the Mapmyrun Course around Veterans Memorial Park located below the map of how to get to the park. Two laps of this 1.55 mile course puts you right at the 5K distance (plus you never have to leave the park). PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FROM 6:30 – 10:30 am ON SATURDAY\, JUNE 4th FOR THE LIVE EVENT TO BE HELD. \nSix-week Training Plan \nhttps://www.runnersworld.com/uk/training/5km/a760067/six-week-beginner-5k-schedule/ \nVirtual Race Result Reporting \nReporting results is optional\, but if you decide to do so the links below provide lots of details on the process. Reading through all of the information in the links is certainly not needed to properly submit results\, but it is there if you want it. \nhttps://help.runsignup.com/support/solutions/articles/17000087349-submit-and-manage-virtual-results \nhttps://runsignup.com/Race/CoronavirusforParticipants/Page-7 \nIn short\, you can go to the top of this page\, then click on the results tab at the top\, and follow the steps to submit virtual results. You should also receive a text and email message with instructions on how to text or email results.\nThe window to report results will be open from Friday at 12:01 am to Monday at 11:59 am. Please email us at rhkickinghunger5k@gmail.com if you encounter any issues reporting your results this weekend. \nCLICK HERE for Tips and Stretches from Lattimore Physical Therapy

Instead\, when it’s closer to the race time\, the RD will transfer you to each individual race. Then you’ll be able to manage your registration. \nOther\nYou might have surmised there is an emphasis on food! I grew up hungry until I could earn money myself to buy food\, and while my company\, Obatron Fitness\, isn’t a non-profit\, each race will include three charitable components: 1) fundraising drive via registration for each host town’s food program for those in need; 2) a food drive for the same organization on race day; and 3) a portion of proceeds after expenses are covered will be donated to the organization. \nTraining Also Available\nSee menu for training options. \nDiscount Offers & Referrals\nEntering the series rather than individual races gets you pricing equal to or less than the total of the individual race fees (depending upon when you register)\, a lower RunSignUp fee than the sum of the fees when registering separately\, and a series gift. The training offered through the series registration page is at a much reduced price including bonus workouts not normally offered with Obatron Fitness group training. If you are a member of GRTC or Obatron Fitness\, you get a discount at checkout for that. Additionally\, you may earn back some of your registration by having other racers use your personal referral link\, generated after you register. See the “Referrals” section for more information. \nAwards and Swag\nWe’re known for our informal awards due to the nature of virtual events. You are encouraged to enter your time to establish a race history with us and for the fun of it. Besides\, you never know what may happen as the series gets underway! There will be race shirts\, medals\, goodies\, and Earned Extras. Plus\, the more sponsors and participants we get\, the more goodies we can put in your packet. \nGender Designations \nWe recognize there are those who would rather not pick male or female when asked to choose. Unfortunately\, we’ve not seen a way to provide other options within that field’s parameters. As such\, we ask your understanding that we are limited by the nature of registration tools and finite resources rather than disregarding anyone’s preferences in how they are addressed or define themselves. \nAdditional Details \nWe will post additional details as they occur. Any changes will be updated here\, on the Obatron Fitness Facebook page\, in our Facebook group\, and communicated through RunSignUp messaging.

Assistance can be provided to patients in the form of gift cards to local gas\, grocery\, and general merchandise stores such as Kwik Fill\, Wegmans\, and Target. Often patients need money for gas as many are driving from outside or on the outskirts of Monroe County for treatment daily or weekly. Target and Wegmans gift cards are typically used for food or everyday needs of patients. The amount provided is based upon the patient’s needs; as many patients as possible can be assisted with a donation to this unique fund. This is the power of the Patient Needs Fund; patients are able to focus more on their treatment and fighting cancer\, and not on the financial burden that so many of us have.
