Family Fun Run for your life Zombie 5K\, where zombies chase\, scare\, jump out at you along your run! Think of it as a Haunted Hayride just…. a race\, well more appropriately…. a RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. The race is part of the Month of October “Halloweenathon” going on all Month long at the Town of Hamlin. **We encourage runners to wear costumes!** \n**New for 2022** The Haunted Walk. Join us to walk 1.5 miles through the park on our interpretation of a Haunted Hayride on foot. You will leave from the same location as the 5K Run\, and walk throughout the park around the Haunted portion of the course. Great for families or those who want a shorter distance but still enjoy the event. Includes Shirt with registration. **Costumes are strongly encouraged** \nWhat is a Zombie? \nIf you sign up as a “Zombie” you are NOT running in the 5K Race. You are being an active participant in the “Scaring” theatrical performances as runners make their way around the course. The first part will be through the Haunted Walk portion\, you will zig zag through Halloween themed places\, be careful of the Zombies\, they are always lurking about… The next part of the course will take you to the FARTHEST part of the Park and back\, but just because the course is open and in the field doesn’t mean there won’t be any Zombies\, Witches or…. worse. \nWALK Course: The course will be approx. 1.5 mile consisting of a zig zag walk through the scariest part of the 5K course. You will follow along the course\, hopefully there are no Zombies looming about as you make your way through the eerie path. DESCRIPTION:  \nTimed Event\nThe Race with Grace 10K 3.0 is back\nWhy RwG 3.0?The Race with Grace (RwG) 10K was established in 1991 as an outgrowth of the participation of several men in the Spencerport Canal Days races during the mid-1980’s.  It had a two-fold purpose\, the more important one being a community outreach.  Secondarily\, it was play on the current Pastor’s name\, George Grace\, who was a runner.\nIn our inaugural year we had 185 registrants and 171 finishers.  Our attendance peaked in 2015 when we celebrated our silver anniversary race with 1245 registrants and 1121 finishers.  Over the race’s 31-year existence\, a total of approximately 5\,000 individuals have participated.  Five men remain who have finished every single RwG and ran virtually in 2020.  They are Stan Cipira\, Bob Dyjak\, Dave O’Leary\, Ric Perry and Doug Ralph.\nThe race established itself as one of the best races in western NY.  It has consistently been named one of NY’s finest races by New England Runner magazine.  In addition\, it has been recognized as one of the cornerstone races in the Rochester Runner of the Year series.  All proceeds\, once race expenses are deducted\, go to support C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association.\nWith the current race director stepping down due to work and family obligations\, no clear choice for a successor\, the race’s future appeared to be at crossroads. Thankfully\, as the “door” on the race was quickly closing\, the Rochester Running Company and Lakeshore Community Church agreed to manage and host this year’s race. \nAbout Lakeshore Community Church:\nFounded in 1995 by Vince and Sue DiPaola\, Lakeshore Community Church exists to help people discover and develop a growing relationship with Jesus. DESCRIPTION:The Penfield Education Foundation (PEF) is excited to be hosting the fourth annual PEF 5K with the support of our Premier Sponsor\, Family First Credit Union. This race/walk will start and end at the Penfield High School track on Sunday\, April 23\, 2023 at 9am. This community 5K race/walk is intended to provide a morning of healthy exercise while supporting the Penfield Education Foundation (PEF). Children’s races will follow the running of the 5K. SUMMARY:RH Kicking Hunger 5K Run / Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association\, in conjunction with the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) and the Town of Henrietta Recreation Department\, invite you to participate in the 6th annual Rush-Henrietta Kicking Hunger 5K in Henrietta\, NY. The 2023 race will provide participants with two options – a live event on Saturday\, June 3rd (8 am start) or a virtual event the weekend of Friday\, June 2nd to Sunday\, June 4th.  \nThe purpose of this race will continue to focus on bringing awareness and providing tangible solutions to the issue of hunger in our community\, as well as continuing the tradition of promoting exercise and family-centered events in our town. The 2018\, 2019\, 2020\, 2021\, and 2022 races raised $3\,300\, $5\,500\, $7\,000\, $9\,500\, and $6\,500 respectively\, and also allowed for RHAFT to collect hundreds of non-perishable food items. Race proceeds have directly impacted our local community by helping to fund both the Rush-Henrietta Central School District (RHCSD) Kicking Hunger Summer Food Program and BackPack Program\, as well as providing support for community food and student-centered programs through both RHAFT and the Town of Henrietta. Since February 2020\, we have handed out more than 1\,800 bags of food to local families through the RHCSD BackPack Program. The race has also allowed for the opening of the Rush-Henrietta School Food Pantry in the Good Shepherd Building on East Henrietta Road. This community resource\, which has been opened since November 2020\, continues to support local families in need. \nPRICING: Register by Sunday\, May 21st\, 2023 – $20 (all participants)\, pricing increases on May 22nd – $25 (all participants) \n2023 Race Participant Raffle Prize Contributors (List will be updated as race weekend gets closer): PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PRESENT AT THE RACE RAFFLE TO CLAIM PRIZES. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Abilities Movement’s Second Annual BE YOU Run\, Walk and Wheel Charity Race! This race is for individuals of all fitness levels and abilities to join together for a 5K race/1.25 mile walk that truly represents connection\, community\, fitness\, and fun! \nHelp us support our community! In 2022\, support efforts helped Abilities Movement provide programs and opportunities for over 100 community members and their families. Abilities Movement helps facilitate fitness and sports opportunities for individuals with varying needs and health diagnoses\, including Autism\, Cerebral Palsy\, Spina Bifida\, Down Syndrome\, Muscular Dystrophy\, Epilepsy\, Visual Impairments\, Traumatic Brain Injury\, Mental Health Challenges\, Developmental Disabilities\, Surgery/Injury Recovery\, and Genetic Disorders. Abilities Movement is one of few providers who offer personalized fitness for people with severe medical needs. \nAbilities Movement provides comprehensive\, adapted opportunities through our programs and classes including: Personalized Fitness\, TeleFtiness\, Mighty Dunks Adapted Basketball\, Rochester Speed Demons Power Wheelchair Soccer\, Group Biking\, Kayaking\, Hiking\, Snow Sports\, and Adapted Run Club. Abilities Movement activities foster physical health benefits (cardiovascular\, endurance\, muscle/joint strength\, flexibility and balance) and socio-emotional health benefits (self-confidence\, cooperation\, community engagement\, connection with nature). He moved to Rochester\, NY at the age of 7 along with his family. Upon graduating high school he enrolled in the US Marine early entry program. In September of 2010 Javier was deployed on his 2nd tour to Afghanistan and 4th total in his 9 years as a Marine. He achieved a rank of Staff Sergeant and Platoon Leader. On November 16\, 2010 Javier was killed by an IED roadside bomb while on foot patrol in an Afghanistan province. Javier represents all of the fallen soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our Freedom. Javier 26\, was survived by his wife Veronica and three children\, Alyssa\, Andrew\, and Anthony. \nCOURSE INFORMATION\nThe SSGT Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K Race and Fitness Walk is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF# NY12901KL).
