SUMMARY:RH Kicking Hunger 5K Run / Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association\, in conjunction with the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) and the Town of Henrietta Recreation Department\, invite you to participate in the 7th annual Rush-Henrietta Kicking Hunger 5K in Henrietta\, NY. The 2024 race will provide participants with two options – a live event on Saturday\, June 1st (8 am start) or a virtual event the weekend of Friday\, May 31st to Sunday\, June 2nd.  \nThe purpose of this race will continue to focus on bringing awareness and providing tangible solutions to the issue of hunger in our community\, as well as continuing the tradition of promoting exercise and family-centered events in our town. Since 2018\, the race has raised over $35\,000 and also allowed for RHAFT to collect hundreds of non-perishable food items. Race proceeds have directly impacted our local community by helping to fund both the Rush-Henrietta Central School District (RHCSD) Kicking Hunger Summer Food Program and BackPack Program\, as well as providing support for community food and student-centered programs through both RHAFT and the Town of Henrietta. In 2020 and 2021\, the Kicking Hunger Committee distributed more than 1\,800 bags of food to local families through the RHCSD BackPack Program. The race has also allowed for the opening of the Rush-Henrietta School Food Pantry in the Good Shepherd Building on East Henrietta Road. Please reach out to the event organizer with questions* \nDetails\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8:30am 10 Miler\n\n9am 3.5 Miler\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Webster Trail Classic will take place in three neighboring parks in Webster\, NY. Each park has a different style of trail building so each offers a unique running experience. It is an excellent trail system that we have been so lucky to get permission to use. Thank you to the Town of Webster\, Friends of Webster Trails\, and the Genesee Land Trust. \nWebster Park:\nThe race will start and end near the Valley View Shelter in Webster Park. The course will stick to the west side of the park. Those running 10 miles will use a connector trail leading to Whiting Road will give runners access to the Whiting Road Nature Preserve.  Those running 3.5 miles will return to the finish through the south portion of the park. \nWhiting Road Nature Preserve:\nWRNP is a beautiful park with a widely varied trail system. Runners will cover open fields\, wooded single track\, bridges\, and the most elevation changes on the course. A connector trail will lead runners to Pellet Road and the Gosnell Big Woods Preserve. \nGosnell Big Woods Preserve:\nThe last of the three parks is one of the highlights of the course. The Big Woods Trail is one of several old growth forests we will pass through during the race. We have been given special permission to use this section of trail by the Genesee Land Trust\, the holder of the permanent conservation easement. After running the beautiful section we will loop the Big Field and return to Pellet Road via the Meadow Trail. The course then returns to WRNP and Webster Park on the way to the finish. \nKIDS FUN RUN: The kids fun run starts and finishes in the same location as all of the other runs. It starts at 11am and is just about 1 mile long. He moved to Rochester\, NY at the age of 7 along with his family. Upon graduating high school he enrolled in the US Marine early entry program. In September of 2010 Javier was deployed on his 2nd tour to Afghanistan and 4th total in his 9 years as a Marine. He achieved a rank of Staff Sergeant and Platoon Leader. On November 16\, 2010 Javier was killed by an IED roadside bomb while on foot patrol in an Afghanistan province. Javier represents all of the fallen soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our Freedom. Javier 26\, was survived by his wife Veronica and three children\, Alyssa\, Andrew\, and Anthony. \nCOURSE INFORMATION\nThe SSGT Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K Race and Fitness Walk is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF# NY12901KL). DESCRIPTION:Swain Mountain Race \nThe Suffer Fest known as Swain Mountain Race is Back on August 3rd!!!  SMR is a mountain/trail race that will cover approximately 6.5miles up and down the Swain Ski Slopes with nearly 2500ft of elevation gain.  This race won’t be easy but we can promise it will be epic with lots and lots of steep climbs and descents\, so embrace the challenge.  The race course consists of 2 Loops\, the first loop is approximately 1.8miles and climbs mile sweep.  The second loop is approximately 4.8 miles and ascends up some of Swains most challenging climbs including Clark and Upper Robinson. \nPost race: cheer in runners with pizza and drinks!! \nUSATF Niagara Mountain Championships \nSwain Mountain Race will serve as the 2024 USATF Niagara Open and Masters Mountain Association Championships.  The race will also be part of the 2024 USATF Niagara Runner Of The Year Series and Team Grand Prix Series.  Due to the sanctioning of this USATF event and hosting the Association Championship Hiking poles are prohibited.  Any 2024 USATF member will receive a $5 discount when you use your membership number when pre-registering online. \nRegistration\nPrice increases as it gets closer to race day so sign up early! \nPacket Pickup \nFriday\, August 2nd at the Rochester Running Co Noon to 6pm.  VJ shoes\, the shoes with the best grip on planet will be at the store for packet pickup and at the race.  Come chat and demo VJ shoes! DESCRIPTION:Jolly Roger 5K\nRun with us in person for awards\, or virtually to support the choir.\nWhen: Saturday\, August 10th \nTime: 8:30am Start Time \nWhere: Starting at Palmyra Macedon High School bus loop (Parking available in the main parking lot at the High School) then continuing right out of the bus loop with a quick left onto Foster street.  At the four way stop runners will make a right onto Stafford Rd.  They will continue on Stafford Rd until they they reach Temple Rd.  Runners will turn left onto Temple Rd and follow that to the turn around.  This course has been mapped out this year to reflect the correct distance. \nWhy: The Jolly Roger  5K is one of the key fundraisers for the Palmyra-Macedon Select Choir.  Proceeds support the domestic and international travel of the ensemble. This is a fun race with a great vibe.  Feel free to wear your pirate costumes to run in.  The choir students will be on the course to cheer you on throughout the race! \nAwards ** Updated for 2023\nOverall M/F\nTop M/F in the following age groups 14 and under\, 15-19\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69\, 70+ \n** To be eligible for awards you must race with us in person. ** \nBathrooms will be available pre and post race. \nPost Race: Water and food will be available to the runners as well as an awards presentation after the race. \nT-Shirt: Register by July 19th to get a race T-Shirt. \nFinisher Medal: Register by July 19th to get a finisher medal \nPacket Pick Up:  Packet pick up this year will be at the Palmyra Macedon High School Bus Loop on 08/18/2023 from 6-8pm or pick up at race location day of race.

DESCRIPTION:Run our River 2024: SECOND Tuesday!  \nDescription: Join us on the SECOND Tuesday of every month for a 5K race along the river.  The course will remain the same throughout the summer so you’ll get the chance to compare your progress throughout the year. **Keep in mind the River Path is a PUBLIC path\, so there will be other runners\, walkers and bikers on the path\, please be aware of your surroundings\, headphones are discouraged** \nPeople of all speeds and abilities are welcome and encouraged. Sign up for 1 race or the entire series of 6 races! \nWHAT YOU GET: Officially timed race\, live results\, series leaderboard\, a chance for prizes for each race. The plan is to run the various trails around Mendon Ponds Park\, each month will be a different trail with a slightly different distance as well.
