SUMMARY:Wendell Hercules Running with the Angels 10k and 5k Races
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThis is the 4th year of the St. Peter’s Running with the Angels race(s). This year we lost the race founder\, Wendell Hercules\, a staple member of the church\, the community and the Rochester running scene in recent years. In his honor\, the race has been renamed with his namesake. \nThe 10k route is very diverse and challenging – 1 mile cross-country\, 3 miles on the Lehigh Valley Trail\, and the rest on local roads. DESCRIPTION:Freddy Morganti was a young\, vibrant 13 year old that loved life and lived it to the fullest. Like many\, Freddy was a young man that enjoyed football\, wrestling and baseball. On April 12\, 2010 Freddy died suddenly and unexpectedly. In his honor\, his parents have created three scholarships for students that enjoy and have excelled at those same sports. \nThe Mission: Our mission is to raise funds to graciously support these scholarships and bring a fun community event to Seneca Falls and the surrounding area in honor of Freddy. SUMMARY:Ninth Annual Scare Brain Cancer Away 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:This is a fast flat course through the village of East Rochester. It is very well marked with 2 water stops and tons of support from the residents of the village. \nThis race is a run/walk with funds going to an individual suffering from brain cancer. Tonya Cyrkin will be this year’s recipient. Tonya is the wife of Josh and mother of Alex and 9th grader Haylie. Diagnosed in 2012 with a glioblastoma\, Tonya’s brain cancer has taken a different path\, that being to attack her spine. Doctors had been at a loss as to how to proceed in treating her cancer as chemo and radiation had not been successful. The tumor on her spine had continued to grow and so it was decided that the best approach would be to remove part of her spine\, which was done on October 6\, 2016. Tonya is working with OT and PT specialists and because of her determination to become more independent and have a somewhat normal life as a family\, she is known as a “rock star”.
